Downgrade iOS 10.1 to iOS 10.0.x – Apple Allows Restoring to Older version
It looks you’re early adopter or iOS 10.1 or wanna jailbreak iOS 10.0.x, thus wanna downgrade iOS 10.1…
Downgrade 10.1: Before starting anything regards downgrading iOS 10.1 to older or previous version, you should know couple of things about these updates and important of security and performance issues.
There may have many reasons for you to downgrade iOS 10.1 to iOS 10.0.3 or iOS 10.0.2 or iOS 10.0.1 but Apple won’t allow you to downgrade 10.1 to any of the above firmwares expect only one.
Look, downgrade is completely depend on Apple because they close signing window just after releasing new updates for the device suppose Apple released iOS 10.1, they’d close signing window for iOS 10.0.1, iOS 10.0.3 or iOS 10.0.2 if iOS 10.0.4 available.
It means you can downgrade iOS 10.1 only to recently updated and most recent last update than iOS 10.1. This doesn’t mean that you can’t downgrade at all. There are certain options available if you don’t like iOS 10.1 or you’ve any issue.
You can fix numerous iTunes error while using iPhone running iOS 10.1 or simply you can restore your iPhone running iOS 10.1 anytime if you’ve any issue related to software.

- You must have IPSW files for firmware that you wanna restore.
- You must know how to put your iPhone into recovery mode and DFU mode.
- DFU Mode is needed to downgrade iOS 10.1 and if you want to restore iOS 10.0.3 or any further firmware, you need to know how to put iPhone into recovery mode.
- You must have computer with iTunes because you can’t downgrade firmware running iOS 10.1 on iPhone itself. You may have Windows, Linux or Mac computer, but with iTunes that can downgrade iOS 10.1.
If you’ve above things, before starting or downloading IPSW files for any firmware, you should check that does Apple sign that firmware to restore or not?
As we told first that you can’t downgrade iOS 10.1 to any firmware you want, you can’t downgrade iOS 10.1 to iOS 9.3.3 or so on because Apple stopped signing iOS 9.3.3 since they released iOS 9.3.5 publicly.
Note: PanGu iOS 10.1 jailbreak is under development, so don’t bother about jailbreak for iOS 10.0 or the firmware which were released between these firmware updates.
Second, iOS 10.1 brings solid security to your iPhone 7 and other older models running iOS 10.1, you shouldn’t opt downgrading just because of jailbreak. If you’ve issues, you can fix them.
If you’ve doubt, you can comment below and we’d help you with detailed steps…
I have 10.1 and it is contiueing telling me I have an updat. I go to update and it tells me I have the latest software. Over and over this is so frusrating
you idiots! there is no public iOS 10.0.2 btw is apple still signing 12.4??
I PERSONALLY THINKING THAT IOS 10.1 IS NOT SUITABLE FOR IPHONE 5. IF YOU’VE OLDER DEVICES SUCH AS IPHONE 5 OR IPOD TOUCH 6G, YOU SHOULD DOWNGRADE IOS 10.1 TO IOS 10.0 IMMEDIATELY.
THANKS
If you’re planning to downgrade iOS 10.1, you should consider backup which is missing in above steps. I want to edit above post and add Backup iOS 10.1 before downgrade 10.1 to avoid iTunes errors. I’ve seen many users stuck during process.
as far as iOS 10.1 is in beta stage, I won’t use it for long. I rather prefer to stay on iOS 10.0.3 or iOS 10.0.2 before Apple publishes iOS 10.1 to public stable version.
