How to delete songs
How to Delete Duplicate Songs from iTunes on MAC or Windows PC
New updated iTunes version has the option to Delete duplicate contents from iTunes as well as from your computer hard disk.
As a regular iTunes user, you are aware of the duplicate contents as well as songs in your iTunes playlist. When user delete his song from iTunes playlist library, it might possible that duplicate copy of that song will be remain on your hard disk of computer. You need to remove that duplicate song too with the original one which you had deleted before.
Actually, Apple had somehow removed a feature called “Duplicate Files or Items” from iTunes 11 that could find duplicate songs, videos and all kind of contents related to iTunes from your computer and allows you to delete them forever. It was too difficult to find out duplicate content and delete them without finding them.
However, If you have updated to new version of iTunes, thats 11.1.3.8, then, you have noticed “Show Duplicate Items” option from iTunes 11.1.3.8 or above. Apple re-included that feature again as a fix in the latest release of iTunes. I would recommend you, always update your iTunes with the latest version to avail the latest features.
How to Permanently Remove Music
1 Before all, you should update your iTunes to the latest release, because most probably it would have the option to show duplicate songs, videos and apps.
2 Open iTunes. You have to look duplicate file option in View menu, so, click on View Menu.

3 Now choose “Show duplicate Items” from View menu. iTunes will filter up all the results and show you all the duplicates songs, videos and other contents from where you can delete them too.
Note: It might show multiple version of the same track of song such as remix, reprise etc. Don’t hurry in deleting all duplicate songs at once. Choose them wisely.
4 Select them and delete by pressing delete button from your PC, however, I would recommend you to press Ctr+Delete button (Windows PC) and Option+Delete button (OS X) to delete them entirely from iTunes library.
Conclusion
If you regularly use iTunes for songs, videos and apps, I have another recommendation for you. You can try iTools, that’s a best iTunes alternative. It has more features than iTunes.
