  1. How to delete duplicate files from iTunes such as songs, apps and games?
Are you able to update this for the ios7? I tried to remove apps from my mini iPad, but they are still showing in my purchased apps, under the tab “app not on iPad”…. I am not tech savvy …… At all! Please help! I want to remove them to free up space for something I will actually use! Thank you!!!!

  2. I need a way to find out if the apps are installed on any device (my iPad, son’s ipod or daughter’s phone) and when they were last used. If I have some silly game on my iPad that the kids actually play I’m happy to keep it but if it hasn’t been used in x months then I’ll safely assume that I can delete it. The kids are too young to have their own iTunes account so have to use mine and I can’t be the only parent in this situation. I certainly don’t want to have to sit with them and go through each game and discuss the merits of keeping/deleting. Apple seemed to have dropped the ball on this.

  3. Am wondering if this will work if I have 2 accounts (2nd by mistake) that I want to combine. If I delete all that are attached the account I don’t want to use, can I reinstall/download as if new into the account I prefer to use? thanks

    1. For some reason, maybe from using one of the iTunes Library switching programs, Get info from iTunes shows various libraries. Can I merge them and keep them intact.

Also, one of the libraries has many old versions of iOS apps and the delete only removes the latest one. Is there an automatic way of deleting the old versions. The version number is embedded in the name so the finder thinks they are different programs.

      1. I used iTunes 11.0.1.12, what is the version of ITunes used in the tutorial? I will try to downgrade my ITunes version, since there is no option to delete apps in the latest version. Now IPhone and ITunes is control me, not me to control them.

        1. In iTunes 11, the Library dropdown button in the top left has an Apps section, from where you can delete apps like in the tutorial. Definitely not as straightforward, but not missing.

  4. The apps that don’t have an x are the ones that came from Apple by default. They form part of the iOS you are using. Since you can’t get rid of them, move them to a special place to get them out of your way. E.g. I have a group/folder on my last page of apps that is called “Unused”. I wanted to delete it from iTunes and I move any app that can’t be deleted or that I don’t want to use (anymore), but don’t want yet to delete from my iOS device for good to that location. That is easy and indeed those apps don’t bother me much anymore. In case of an overflow create “Unused 2” or do some spring cleaning by removing for good some of those you are now sure you don’t want them anymore.
Does this trick work on iOS iOS 10, iOS 10, 9?

  5. Sounds good in theory, but here’s one I’m facing. I have a Bluetooth widget that no longer works. It does not show up in my list of apps in iTunes (but it does on the screen showing what’s on my iPhone), point to it and there is no “X” to delete nor does right clicking nor edit/delete enable getting rid of it. It stays on my iPhone (3GS) through every sync, and the only acknowledgement iTunes gives me that it exists is to display it in the graphic of my apps screen BUT IT’S NOT LISTED on the full list on the left side of iTunes screen.

How can I remove THAT icon??

  6. I have a number of apps which when clicked generate an explanation mark against them (the icon does not have a picture but what looks like an ‘A’). If I delete the app it is removed but when I then close down iTunes and re-open it re-appears.

  7. Will this make me have to pay for all the paid apps I’ve had? or will I be able to re download them again for free?

  8. I don’t know if this is because I am on the cloud now, but “apps” or “application” does not appear under Library. under the iTunes Store under Store is where I see the “apps.” however, when I click on it, it does ask me to delete it. I can “x” out of the app which hides the app, but doesn’t permanently delete it. Has anyone else had this issue? if so, how can it be resolved? How can I delete apps from iTunes permanently?
